PUT AN ELECTRONIC LABEL ON YOUR JUMP DRIVE

 TO DO THIS:

1. Insert your jump drive into a USB port on your computer.

2. Click the START button at the lower left of the screen.

3. In the right column of the desktop, click COMPUTER (MY COMPUTER in XP).

4. When a group of choices appear, right click the icon for your jump drive.

5. On the drop down menu, click Properties.

6. Click inside the skinny text box to position the insert bar.

7. Use the delete key and/or the backspace key to remove any remnants of the previous label.

8. Now type the label you want for your jump drive.(up to 11 characters in length)

9. Click the OK button at the bottom of the Properties Window.

10. Close all open windows.

11. Click the Start button at the lower left of the screen.

12. On the desktop, in the right column, click COMPUTER (MY COMPUTER in XP).

13. Does your new label appear on the screen?

14. Close all windows, remove your jump drive, and proceed to the next item on your agenda.
